December 2, 2008
This is the time of year when we all give thanks and count our blessings. Therefore, this letter is to thank all of those folks who have involved themselves in saving the tabs from aluminum drink cans for the Payson Womans Club.
What has happened to town’s concern for youth
December 2, 2008
For months, our town leaders have pushed hard to get support of their proposal to lease town property to the YMCA. Their main concern, they claimed, was the town’s youth. “It’s all about the children. They need a place to go and something to do to stay out of trouble. We owe it to them.”
False information being spread about water problem
December 2, 2008
In a recent letter to the editor, Sam Schwalm continues to make accusations and spread fear and false information to citizens in the Pine-Strawberry Water Improvement District. Contrary to Mr. Schwalm’s statement that I have been aggressively trying to silence any discussions, I wish to open the discussion further and to its broadest context so the citizens of our community may be well-informed with complete and factual information of all the events that have transpired.

November 28, 2008
I would like to thank all of people who turned out and exercised their right to vote in this last election. I would also like to thank everyone for their support during and after my campaign.
God favors nations that honor Him
November 28, 2008
As I sit here practicing Christmas carols for the upcoming holiday season, my mind jumped to a billboard on the side of a bus. The news clip CNN showed was of a happy-go-lucky guy in a Santa suit, lifting his right hand to the words that said, “Why believe in god? Just be good for goodness sake.”
The ‘Y’
November 28, 2008
Now that the “Y” has gone away, to perhaps return another day, it’s time to see what happened, and just why.
Radiothon raises nearly $10,000
November 28, 2008
“Hip, hip, hooray!” to everyone who helped make our fifth annual radiothon, “Up, Up and Away with Domestic Violence” a success. Chapman Auto, KMOG and KRIM deserve an extra hooray for supporting us all day long in our effort to collect funds for children who have been involved in domestic and family violence.
‘Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body’
November 28, 2008
In a letter bearing the inscrutable heading: “Votes against school override; YMCA we an aberration,” (Nov. 18 Roundup) the writer stated: “The votes against the school override and the YMCA were an aberration and cast our town as being anti-youth and against progress.”

Group will continue to provide summaries of PSWID meetings
November 25, 2008
At the September PSWID meeting, Fred Krafczyk stood up and claimed that the November election was going to cost the PSWID $27,000 and that the only reason I was running for the board was as part of a plot with Brooke Utilities to drain the PSWID treasury of funds.

November 25, 2008
Peter Aleshire’s interesting articles regarding the Payson trail system and the Goat Camp ruins lead me to make a suggestion to the Rim archaeological group.
