Become a personal trainer
Are you ready to look more attractive, feel healthier, and live longer? Would you like to be prepared for a new, full- or part-time career helping others and complete the training in just one semester? You can do it by becoming a personal trainer. Gila Community College is offering a Personal Training class which leads to a personal trainer certificate.
This course is designed to develop an understanding of the principles of strength and fitness training, including fitness evaluation, exercise prescription and nutrition. The student will learn how to implement a health appraisal, screening and evaluation and utilize various exercises for the improvement of speed, power, endurance and metabolism.
There are many ideas on how to both help others and yourself. Recognize the differences and benefits of aerobic versus anaerobic exercises, dynamic exercise with isometric exercise and heavy resistance training, including warm-ups, flexibility, resistance training, muscular strength and endurance, and cardiovascular fitness.
Students who complete the personal trainer class, along with the physical conditioning (wellness center) class, will have the option to sit for the National Council on Strength and Fitness Personal Trainer Certification Test.
